Diamond Cosmetics Concrete Jungle

Diamond Cosmetics Concrete Jungle (2 coats)-1 layer topcoat Extended Wear
Today I will be finishing up the polishes I received for the Ring in the New Year Collection from Diamond Cosmetics. Concrete Jungle is a nice medium grey creme. I'm not usually in love with grey polishes, but this one looks nice on the nail. Application was just great like all Diamond Cosmetics polishes I've owned and only needed 2 coats overall. I used one coat of their new Extended Wear topcoat which is supposed to keep polish from fading and yellowing.

Diamond Cosmetics Nail Shine Topcoat

I was also sent another new topcoat called Nail Shine. It is made to protect polish with a rich, shiny film. As you can see from the photo, it really does have a nice shine to it. Unfortunately for both topcoats, they are not quick-dry. After having gone to Seche Vite and Poshe, it is really hard to wait so long in order to do anything. The Nail Shine topcoat definitely dried faster than the Extended Wear one, but it was still at least an hour until they were mostly dry. I think these may work better with drying drops (which I don't own). I didn't get the chance to really check if the Extended Wear topcoat lasts longer, but after almost 2 days of work in a lab and a shower, I had no chips in the polish so it does seem to have some lasting benefits. Overall, as a blogger who changes her polish every day, I don't think these topcoats were geared for me. I can see how those who polish their nails a couple times a week would find these topcoats useful. Also on the positive side, they are only $2.50 on their website right now.

Diamond Cosmetics Starry Night

Diamond Cosmetics Starry Night (2 coats)

Starry Night comes from the new Collection from Diamond Cosmetics that includes three topcoats and two polishes. I've already reviewed the matte topcoat (which can be found here) and is a great product for only $3.50. Starry Night is a black polish with fine silver shimmer throughout. At first I thought the shimmer was going to be more pronounced, but after applied, there's just a hint of texture. I'm usually not a huge fan of most black polishes, but after using all of these spring colors, this polish just hit the spot. The name isn't the most original, and usually are purple colors instead of black, but I won't hold this against the polish. Application was great and only needed 2 coats for full coverage.

On a side note, when I applied this one it made me think of my graduate research. I study aquatic viruses and often use microscopy to count them. Since the viruses are so small (duh!), it can be really hard to count some of them on the slides (they are tiny colored specks on a black background) and it reminded me of this polish.

OPI Absolutely Alice

OPI Absolutely Alice (3 coats)

The final color of the Alice in Wonderland Collection I have for you is Absolutely Alice. I know there was a lot of talk about whether or not this was too close to Dorothy Who? from the China Glaze The Wizard of Ooh and Ahz collection. I haven't done a comparison yet, but Absolutely Alice is more complex with a mix of blue, silver and gold glitters whereas Dorothy Who? only contains blue glitter in a jelly base. While both Absolutely Alice and Mad as a Hatter needed 3 coats, this one had better coverage and no bald spots.

OPI Mad as a Hatter

OPI Mad as a Hatter (3 coats)

I know, I know, I am so behind on my swatches! I meant to post this last week, but then the Color Club polishes came in. Mad as a Hatter comes from the Alice In Wonderland Collection from OPI and as you can see it is glitter magic! I love glitters! After the huge release of glitters from China Glaze I was sort of glittered out and I was happy to have a little break from it. It has multicolored glitter in a clear base. Application was fine, but needed a full three (thick) coats to be opaque. The only other polish I got from the collection was Absolutely Alice and I will be showing this one tomorrow.

Color Club Ms. Socialite

Color Club Ms. Socialite (2 coats)

Today is the last day for the Rebel Debutante collection and I hope you've enjoyed it as much as I have! I still have some polishes from Diamond Cosmetics and OPI coming up soon. Ms. Socialite is a bright purple creme. It has hints of eggplant, but it's not nearly as dark. It's a great color and flawless application.

Color Club Gossip Column and Charity Ball

Color Club Charity Ball (2 coats)

Happy Thursday everyone! On we go with the Rebel Debutante collection. Up first is Gossip Column. Again, like Rebel Debutante, it does not come with the pre-packaged set collection so you must buy this separately. Gossip Column is an awesome bright blue creme. This one is definitely unique to my collection and looks great with my skintone (if I do say so myself). Flawless application with this polish and it only needed 2 coats.

Charity Ball is actually perfect right now since it really has a fall feeling to me. Of course, I'm always the person who says, "If you like it, wear it whenever you'd like." This one is a nice mix of brown and red, but the pictures really bring out the brown in it. Great polish with great application. How are you guys feeling about this collection so far?

Color Club Rebel Debutante and She's So Glam

Color Club Rebel Debutante (2 coats)

Color Club She's So Glam (3 coats)

Wow, isn't Rebel Debutante an beautiful lime green creme?! Color Club is so good at using the best polishes from collections to name them (ex: Wild at Heart...who doesn't love a purple holo?). The second photo looks a little more neon than it does in real life and I think the first picture is overall a better representation. Application was just great and only needed 2 coats. I received several compliments on this one (and with how bright it is, how can you blame them for noticing?) and is really unique for my collection. One thing I must mention now is that if  you buy the set (that usually comes in a plastic container), you do NOT get Rebel Debutante and Gossip Column. I know, I know, you'll just have to buy these two separately but they are totally worth it.

She's So Glam is definitely not the star of the collection. Sure, it's a nice Barbie pink creme, but who doesn't have one of those around? Also, it was really streaky until the third coat and it probably could have used a 4th on me. Overall, it's ok but if you're not going to buy the whole set, I'd settle on several of the other awesome colors from this collection.

Color Club High Society and Uptown Girl

Color Club High Society (2 coats)

Color Club Uptown Girl (2 coats)

On to more Color Club Rebel Debutante Collection swatches! High Society is a nice neutral grey/taupe creme that applied like a dream in 2 coats. This color is definitely the new "it" color it seems. I love it!

Uptown girl is one of the colors that seems more Spring-like from the collection. It is sort of a dusty purple creme...it seems too dark of a purple to be a pastel. Anyway, I love this one as well!

What do you guys think of the collection so far?

Color Club Who are you Wearing? and Best Dressed List

Color Club Who are you Wearing? (3 coats)

Color Club Best Dressed List (2 coats)

As promised, here are some swatches from the upcoming collection called Rebel Debutante from Color Club. As most of you know, I am a huge fan of Color Club and their upcoming collections won't disappoint! Rebel Debutante is definitely a wide variety of colors (a few brights, several purples, etc.). It doesn't scream SPRING to me, but that is just fine since these are colors that are very versatile. Application on all the polishes were wonderful, as usual. The only polish that needed 3 coats out of all of them was Who are you Wearing?

Up first is Who are you Wearing? which is a very interesting color. You know how when you go shopping for wall paint and there are like, MILLIONS of different whites? Eggshell, Ivory, Buttercream, etc. Well, this one sort of falls into this category which is great because it's not a normal nail polish color. To me it is a milky white creme with hints of taupe and lavender. Application was wonderful, but did need the full three coats as I mentioned earlier.

Best Dressed List is another unique color to my collection. We all know how I'm dubious about browns on my nails, but this one is definitely a neutral and wearable brown creme. It's not a dark chocolate brown color, but more the color of milk chocolate chips after they've been microwaved (am I right about this? Don't they seem a bit lighter after they've been melted?). Great application and pigmentation after 2 coats. I really love both of these! What do you guys think so far?

China Glaze Four Leaf Clover and Flyin' High

China Glaze Four Leaf Clover (2 coats)

China Glaze Flyin' High (2 coats)

We're down to my final 2 Up, Up and Away Collection polishes! I ended up not getting Happy Go Lucky since I wasn't sure how it would look on my skin. Four Leaf Clover is a great kelly green creme. I just love bright greens like this! It only needed 2 coats and it applied well.

Flyin' High is another favorite from the collection. It's not quite a sky blue creme since it has a bit of dustiness to it. I was also pretty happy with the application on this one as well.

Overall I am really happy with this collection. It had a wide variety of colors (and can you believe it, 2  yellows?!) with both brights and pastels. I usually don't get whole collections, especially when there are 12 of them, but this one definitely warranted the 11 I bought.

I am happy to say that I will be starting the Rebel Debutante Collection from Color Club tomorrow! I hope you guys are as excited as I am!

CG Grape Pop and High Hopes

China Glaze Grape Pop (2 coats)

China Glaze High Hopes (2 coats)

No offense, but doesn't it seem like I've been on this collection forever? Ok, it's time for 2 polishes today. First up is Grape Pop which makes my camera a liar as usual. It is really a bright purple creme and is not nearly as blue as the picture shows. I'd have to say this was one of the easiest to apply of the collection. Some say this looks pretty similar to RBL's Mismas, but I don't own that one to compare it.

Now on to High Hopes. I apologize for how awful the application looks on the pictures. As you can assume I had some issues with applying this one. It is definitely one you need to thin before using. It is a really nice coral color that pulls pink and orange. This is a really nice and bright polish that would make a nice mani or pedi.

I am very excited to say that Color Club was kind enough to send me their 9-piece Rebel Debutante collection. I've swatched about half of them and hope to finish them up today. As soon as I finish up the Up, Up and Away collection I will start this one. Are you guys excited?! Until then, here is a promo picture of the collection.

China Glaze Something Sweet

China Glaze Something Sweet (2 coats)

Up next is Something Sweet. It is a light baby pink creme, but as you can see from my photos, pulls a little lavender (I think my second picture is more true to life since the top one adds a little too much purple). I think this one was a little too pale for me. It is definitely different than Cotton Candy from the Orly Sweet Collection which contains many pastel cremes as well. The application on this one was also pretty good and only needed 2 coats for full coverage.

Heli-Yum

China Glaze Heli-Yum (2 coats)

Welcome back for another day of the China Glaze Up, Up and Away Collection! Next up is Heli-Yum which is a bright raspberry pink creme. Despite not being the most original color of the collection, it is still a nice shade to have around. I'm glad to report that this polish was an easier one to apply and only needed 2 coats. I have to admit I am really enjoying the pigmentation of this collection (yay for 2 coaters!).

China Glaze Sugar High

China Glaze Sugar High (2 coats)

Whoa my fingers look dry! I am so sorry about that (I think I was swatching a lot that night and didn't want to put lotion on to mess up application). Sugar high is such a bright pink creme! I'm not really sure if you'd call this a neon exactly, but it is definitely on the verge of it. Application was a bit of a pain on this one. If you look at the ends of my nails you can see that the polish sort of pooled there. I tried to apply thin coats, but this didn't really happen. I would also just wait a few moments between coats. The thinner should be busted out for this one. What a fun Barbie pink color!

China Glaze Re-Fresh Mint

China Glaze Re-Fresh Mint (2 coats)

Oh yes, yet another new mint green creme! No, unfortunately it's not like Chanel Jade (which I regret not buying) since there is no slight shimmer in this one. I don't have a comparison of this one with other mint polishes, but it is definitely more green than Essie Mint Candy Apple. Overall I'm really happy with this shade. Application was slightly thick, but I think it was easier than Mint Candy Apple and only need 2 coats to be opaque.
